Welcome to Six Pillars

I’m Brian Comly—an occupational therapist, nutrition coach, husband, dad of two, and unapologetic health nerd. Throughout my career, I’ve been helping people rebuild their lives after spinal cord injuries, strokes, and other life-altering events. Along the way, I’ve learned that true health isn’t about one thing—it’s about balance across six key pillars: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, social connection, and mindset. That’s why I created Six Pillars—to explore what really works and share the insights that have transformed my life and the lives of those I’ve worked with.

I host The Growth Kit podcast and run MindBodyDad, where I share in-depth articles, and my favorite books and products under the topics of health and parenting (you can subscribe here). I also created The Therapy Lab which focuses on skills, interventions, and education for occupational and physical therapists. I created Six Pillars to simplify things—focusing on actionable, science-backed advice without the overwhelm.

Each week you will get a brief (<500 words…ish) rotating post about one of the six pillars of health. I’ll tell you why it matters, what the science says, and practical ways to use that information to become healthier.

My goal is to make thriving in health and life straightforward, practical, and rooted in real-world solutions.
